Rodrigues Is. Expedition

A Mauritius amateur radio team each carrying, mostly home-made, satellite telecommunications equipment set-off for Rodrigues Island (Indian Ocean).

From 5th August to 9th August 2022, a team from the Mauritius Amateur Radio Society went to the neighbouring Rodrigues Island to activate communications with the QO-100 Satellite. The QO-100 satellite is a geostationary satellite Es’hail-2 carrying amateur radio transponders.  This successful communications activation was a first from Rodrigues Island. The team was able to communicate in both voice and Morse Code modes of transmission via the QO-100 satellite. Many amateur radio contacts were made with other enthusiasts around the world through this satellite. Over 800 communication contacts were made over the weekend period. More photos can be viewed on this link to the Mauritius Amateur Radio Society website.
