18 April World Amateur Radio Day.
Celebrating this captivating hobby which extends world-wide. I am on the High Frequencies (HF) in various transmission modes mainly using morse code or digital.
Below photos of typical equipment used today. Click on photo to enlarge.
I was chatting to a friend about this activity the other day, and do you think I could remember the term “amateur radio” or “ham radio”? I was a complete blank. But we both agreed the SOS signal does not really stand for “Save our Souls”. That got us talking about why that signal in particular. I came down on the side it is easily transmitted and understood. Am I anywhere near right?
Nice fascinating hobby Mike! I wil be coming back to the island for a wedding in June and will be there until mid September!
